Scan the pump before you fill up

You are at the pump. The price on the sign looks ordinary. A station a short drive away might be lower, and you will not know unless you look. WorthIt can start that look from one photo.

What to photograph

Open WorthIt and snap the price. The pump display or the roadside sign both work, as long as the per-gallon digits are readable. A number cut off at the edge of the frame is harder to use, so step back until the grade and the price are in the shot.

You do not pick a fuel mode first. One photo starts a Save check. A pump is fuel, not a shelf product.

Allow location when the phone asks. Nearby stations come from where you are standing. If location stays off, WorthIt cannot list the stations around that pump.

What you get back

Gas is not sold the way a boxed item is. WorthIt does not show Amazon, Walmart, or Target for a pump scan.

You get a fuel result instead:

  • A typical price range, per gallon. That range is an estimate.
  • Gas stations near you, with Maps when you want directions.
  • A pump-price field if the photo did not catch the digits. Add the number on the sign so the check uses what you are about to pay. You can skip that if you do not know it.

Prices WorthIt attaches to other stations are estimates, not the live number on their sign. Tap Maps, then read the pump or the sign before you drive there. If a row looks cheaper than the price you entered, treat that as a reason to check, not as a promise.

Fill up or go

If the price in front of you sits in the typical range, and the nearby list is not worth the extra drive, fill up. If the sign is high against that range, look at the closer stations and confirm their price before you leave.

You are not trying to photograph every grade. One clear price, for the fuel you actually buy, is enough.

Same app, different check

A shelf tag still gets online comps. A pump does not. Flip is for something you might resell, not for gasoline. The habit is the same as the aisle: one photo when the number in front of you makes you hesitate.
